From 200 to 14,000 followers

From the day Puppet came home I started recording her. Partially because no one believed me when I described her antics and I needed proof. Also because brings a smile to the face of everyone she meets. Puppet makes the isolation of the pandemic bearable and I thought she could do the same for others.

I posted once a day or every other day on Tik Tok for two weeks, and Puppet had 200 followers. Most of her videos went along with Tik Tok songs or trends. Then, I randomly made a video of how Puppet eats.

She spins in circles around her food unless she is in a box. It’s a quirk that is hilarious . Less than 12 hours later and the video had over 20,000 views. Her followers jumped from 200 to over 6,000 in one night.

Three days later, Puppets eating video has 1.8 million views, and she has over 14,000 followers. Most surprising is her viral video didn’t follow any of the ‘go viral’ advice you find online.

It was longer than the suggest 15 second format.

It wasn’t filmed with a high-quality camera.

It didn’t follow any Tik Tok trends or video formats.

It didn’t have background music.

It wasn’t posted at ‘prime’ time (night).
